Taiwan Mobile to acquire 6.5% stake in 91APP

Taiwan Mobile's board of directors approved the acquisition of common shares in Taiwanese SaaS company 91APP, via a block trade. Taiwan Mobile will buy up to 5 million 91APP shares, with the final execution price set within a 10 percent range of the closing market price on the day prior to the trade. Following completion of this transaction, Taiwan Mobile will own 7.5 million 91APP shares, representing a 6.55 percent stake in the software company.

UK govt announces funding of GBP 2.5 bln for AI, quantum technologies

The UK government has announced record funding of GBP 2.5 billion for AI and quantum technologies. This will be used to anchor the most promising AI and quantum technology companies in the UK, with Chancellor Rachel Reeves MP aiming for the UK to have the fastest adoption of AI across the G7 countries. The investment is part of the government's Industrial Strategy, which identifies Digital and Technologies as one of eight high-growth sectors vital to the UK's long-term economic success.

Databricks buys Quotient AI to power AI agent evaluation

Databricks has acquired Quotient AI, a start-up specialized in the evaluation and reinforcement learning for AI agents. Quotient's technology focuses on tracking how AI agents behave in practice, identifying problems, and using that information to make them perform better over time. This is being added to Databricks tools such as Genie, Genie Code, and Agent Bricks. No financial details related to this acquisition have been disclosed.

Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) has announced the launch of contactless payments at ticket gates on the Glasgow Subway system. Installation and testing of contactless PAYG payments in the subway has taken place over the last few months, with contactless payments now live. Canadian satellite operator Telesat has reported consolidated revenue of CAD 418 million for the 12 months to 31 December 2025, down 25 percent or CAD 153 million from 2024. The lower revenue was attributable to rate/capacity reductions by North American DTH customers, and lower revenue from business customers in rural broadband markets. Yandex launches new line of smart home sensors as higher output allows price cuts

Russian internet company Yandex has launched a new line of smart home sensors. Optimisation of production has enabled it to offer the devices at lower prices. The recommended retail rate is now RUB 1,490 per unit, down from RUB 2,490 rate. The range includes four products, namely a temperature and humidity sensor, a leak sensor, a sensor for opening doors and windows, as well as a movement and light sensor.

Scottish broadcaster STV Group has reported revenue of GBP 176.9 million for 2025, down 6 percent from GBP 188 million in 2024. Total advertising revenue (TAR) was down 10 percent to GBP 89.3 million; with Studios revenue down 1 percent to GBP 83 million. Group adjusted operating profit was down 44 percent to GBP 11.6 million, from GBP 20.6 million in 2024; with statutory operating profit down 71 percent to GBP 3.8 million, from GBP 13.2 million a year earlier. Bank payments company GoCardless said that over 35,000 UK businesses have selected GoCardless for open banking payments. It has now signed up 37,323 open banking customers since launching the Instant Bank Pay open banking product in 2021. The company's chief product officer, Shaun Puckrin, said it was proud to serve over 35,000 open banking business customers. In the future, GoCardless plans to support the launch of next-generation open banking payments - Variable Recurring Payments (VCRs).

Openreach has warned of a possible digital divide in London emerging as millions of customers fail to upgrade to full-fibre broadband. Deutsche Glasfaser has announced a management team reshuffle. The company has appointed Gerhard Mack as the new Chief Operating Officer (COO), effective from April. Mack has previously held management positions in the technology, IT and network sectors at Alcatel, Kabel Deutschland and Vodafone, and most recently served as Chief Technology Officer at Vodafone Germany.

Qualcomm raises dividend and announces USD 20 bln share buy-back authorisation

Qualcomm has announced an increase in its quarterly cash dividend from USD 0.89 to USD 0.92 per share from 26 March and said it will raise the annualised dividend payout to USD 3.68 per share. Its directors have also approved a new USD 20.0 billion stock repurchase authorisation on top of the one declared in November 2024, which has approximately USD 2.1 billion of repurchase authority remaining. The new stock repurchase scheme has no expiry date.

Giffgaff launches 24-month full-fibre broadband plans

UK telco giffgaff has announced the launch of 24-month full-fibre broadband plans, with no mid-contract price increases. This follows the launch of monthly rolling full-fibre broadband plans in September 2025. Customers can get 200 Mbps, 500 Mbps or 900 Mbps broadband for GBP 25, GBP 28 or GBP 32 per month with a fixed 24-month contract. On a monthly rolling basis, the plans cost GBP 29, GBP 32 and GBP 35 per month respectively - with these monthly rolling prices fixed during 2026.
